Why should Malaysians be excited about Awesome TV?
It has been too long since we are presented with fresh new local vibrant content. When was the last time a new TV station was launched for the people? Awesome, the name itself, is its character. It shall be an awesome channel where it becomes a mood booster to all Malaysians from all walks of life and background.
What are the pillar contents?
Awesome TV will launch with 5 main genres: Entertainment, Comedy, Dramas, Talkshows and Kids.
Who are the people behind Awesome TV?
Awesome TV is owned by local private investors who are not linked to the government or any political parties. It is purely for the people. Our CEO is Dato’ Adam Ilyas who has vast experience in content production such as ‘Super Spontan’ and ‘Pop Yeah Yeah’. My own journey includes holding the CEO of TV Networks position at Media Prima Berhad, prior to my appointment as MD of Awesome TV.
Traditional linear TV is facing some very tough challenges like competition from global OTT platforms. What’s your strategy for this?
Awesome TV shall not just be a linear free-to-air TV station on MYTV platform, as Awesome TV will be launched together with our own online streaming service (OTT) on video-on-demand catchup TV basis at www.awesometv.my. It is free of charge to viewers as there will be no subscription fees.
What are your hopes for Awesome TV in the first year?
My hope is very achievable, that is, to be the number 1 free-to-air TV station on MYTV. My hope is that every Malaysian who switches on the TV set or browse the internet, will go to our content first. My hope is to make a difference to Malaysians during this troubling times. At Awesome TV, we wish to entertain everybody and make people happy.
